Space (copy)cats
Wherever Satellite Conventions go, NASA is sure to follow. It has just announced it is considering missions to Venus and the moons of Jupiter, planets-of-honour at Satellites 6 and 7 respectively. Hopefully they will not find any Space Ghouls on the way.

Iain M Banks honoured by ocean explorer
American undersea explorer Victor Vescovo has recently become the first person to visit the deepest point in every ocean, diving in a submarine named after a ship in Ian M Banks’ Culture Series. The DSV Limiting Factor was called after a General Offensive Unit of the same name in The Player of Games. Mr Vescovo is such a big, self-confessed fan of the series he also named the mission support ship Pressure Drop from a ship in the Hydrogen Sonata . A number of the smaller outboard boats used in the missions also are called after Culture ships.
He has one regret...not meeting Iain in person. He should have come to Satellite 2, where Iain was our Guest of Honour shortly before his untimely death in 2013.

WARNING: Train Disruption for Satellite 7
Avanti West Coast have informed Glasgow City Marketing Bureau that National Rail are undertaking major works on the West Coast rail line between Carlisle and Glasgow/Edinburgh over a 10 weekend period, including the weekend of Satellite 7. We have been advised that there will be no train services from Glasgow to Carlisle on the Saturday, Sunday, or Monday of the convention. Replacement bus services will be in operation. Services on East Coast lines are unaffected. More information can be found at the Avanti West Coast website
Satellite 7 are disappointed to hear of this disruption, which will impact on some of our members. We hope you understand that it is due to circumstances entirely beyond our control, and are able to make or adjust your travel plans accordingly.
