Of Dragons, Feasts and Murders
Some good news at these difficult times. Our Guest of Honour, Aliette de Bodard’s latest book from the Dominion of the Fallen series, Of Dragons, Feasts and Murders will be out on the 7th of July.
The cover copy reads:
From the author of the critically acclaimed Dominion of the Fallen trilogy comes a tale of dragons, and Fallen angels — and also kissing, sarcasm and stabbing.
Lunar New Year should be a time for familial reunions, ancestor worship, and consumption of an unhealthy amount of candied fruit.
But when dragon prince Thuan brings home his brooding and ruthless husband Asmodeus for the New Year, they find not interminable family gatherings, but a corpse outside their quarters. Asmodeus is thrilled by the murder investigation; Thuan, who gets dragged into the political plotting he'd sworn off when he left, is less enthusiastic.
It'll take all of Asmodeus's skill with knives, and all of Thuan's diplomacy, to navigate this one — as well as the troubled waters of their own relationship....
A sparkling standalone book set in a world of dark intrigue.
So, get yourself down to Amazon (UK, US and FR) or Kobo to get your copy pre-ordered now!

Satellite 7 POSTPONED
In view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic we have decided to postpone Satellite 7.
The convention will now take place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st February 2021. We plan to ‘drag-and-drop’ Satellite 7 from its current dates to the new ones: the convention will still take place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, with the same theme, guests, and programme.
What happens to my membership for Satellite 7?
All Satellite 7 memberships will automatically roll forward to the new dates. Current members in Young Adult, Junior, Child or Infant categories will remain at that level, even if they have a birthday between May 2020 and February 2021 that would normally move them into a more expensive category. Do please let us know, however, so we can code your badge correctly.
Can I get a refund if I don’t want to attend on the new dates?
As the convention is being postponed rather than cancelled, and to avoid running at a deficit, we unfortunately cannot offer refunds at this time. You can however transfer your membership to someone else, see our Refund Policy.
What about my hotel bedroom booking?
If you booked a room using the code that was provided to convention members then you can cancel your booking without penalty up to 72 hours before your original intended arrival. Please contact the hotel directly to do this. We cannot cancel on your behalf.
Anyone who chose to book their hotel bedroom independently should check the terms and conditions applicable to whoever they booked through.
We will re-open bedroom bookings for the re-arranged convention in the autumn. We will alert all members that room bookings are re-opening at that time.
Are all the guests still attending?
We are pleased to confirm that both of our Guests of Honour, author Aliette de Bodard and artist Margaret Walty, will be attending on the revised dates.
Our Day Guests, comic artist Kev F Sutherland and space engineer Professor Malcolm Macdonald have also committed to coming to Satellite 7 in February 2021… as has the fantastic Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre.
What about programme?
Programme development will continue, though at a slower rate, ramping up again towards the end of 2020. If you have already volunteered, we will simply carry forward your item to the new dates. If you have not yet volunteered, there is now even more time to do so. We are always happy to receive suggestions for interesting programme items (though can’t guarantee to be able to run them all).
I have already volunteered to help the convention. Do I need to fill out new forms for the new dates?
No. If you have already volunteered, we will assume that you are still willing to help. If you have not yet volunteered, please consider doing so. Satellite 7 will only be as good as you – the members – make it.
My T-shirt now has the wrong dates. Will it be replaced?
No. It is still a perfectly functional T-shirt. Further, given the date change, you will now be wearing a unique collector’s item!
If you have any further questions, please drop us a note at COVID19@seven.SatelliteX.org.uk
We would like to thank all our members for their patience at this very difficult time. Please do everything you can to keep yourself and your loved ones safe and well.
We hope to see you all in Glasgow in February 2021.

The Scottish Falsetto Socks are in town...
...so lock up your garters!
Can’t wait to Satellite 7 to catch up with our favourite knitted footware – the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre? Well, the little guys are on tour right now! They will be in Glasgow next week with not one, but two complete shows. And as long as the audience does not exceed 498 people, they should be good to go!
